Thomas received degrees in veterinary medicine and pathology from the University of Sydney. Thomas moved to New York to study comparative medicine and pathology and became a Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine. He also enjoys seeing exotic pets and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners and the European College of Zoological Medicine in the specialty of Small Mammals. Thomas has held clinical appointments at Animal Medical Center in NY, Tufts Cummings Veterinary School and is a VIN Exotic Mammals Consultant. Thomas is also co-editor of Clinical Veterinary Advisor: Birds and Exotic Pets, and received the 2018 Oxbow Exotic Mammal Health Award. Currently, Thomas works at the French National Veterinary School in Paris, where he is a Research Professor and Co-service Head of the exotic animal service.
