Rob is Professor of Small Animal Surgery at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, University of Nottingham, having joined the School full time in 2015. Rob graduated from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in 1989, after intercalating a Bachelors of Science degree in Anatomy with Medical Sciences in 1986. Rob has spent his career practicing and teaching in the field of small animal soft tissue surgery, having worked in academia, private practice and industry. He is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons and holds the RCVS Diploma in Small Animal Surgery (soft tissue). In 2002, Rob was awarded the BSAVA Simon Award for outstanding contributions to veterinary surgery and, in 2016, he was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for Meritorious Contributions to Clinical Practice. Most recently, in 2020, Rob was awarded the Higher Doctorate of Science from the University of Nottingham for his clinical research into congenital portosystemic shunts. Rob is recognised as both an RCVS and a European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery.
